Our Journey Begins....

On March 27, 2015, the Lord spoke words to me that will forever change the course of my life and the life of my family. I have sensed the Lord speak to me in my spirit through that “still, small voice” before. He has laid ideas on my heart and imparted direction in my mind many times throughout my Christian walk. However, never before that day in March have I ever heard the audible voice of God. Make no mistake, it is an experience I will never forget! The words spoken to me that day were this, “I want you to go to Sweden. I want you to plant churches and I want you to be a National Leader in that country.” Believer me when I tell you, I was very content living here in Hoisington, KS, serving as the Senior Pastor at Living Joy Community Church. I have never before entertained the thought of becoming a missionary and going into the mission field, but that is exactly what God is asking the Hopkins’ family to do!

So how do we embark on such a monumental task? We pray. We seek God’s perfect will for our lives. We follow His leading. No matter what. Back in May, Jennifer and I traveled to California for our annual Foursquare Convention. We prayed specifically before we left for the Lord to set up some divine appointments for us. We were seeking answers to questions we did not yet even realize we had. We were seeking confirmation. In short, God completely showed off His goodness to us beyond what we could imagine!

Our next step was to travel back to Los Angeles, CA, the beginning of November for a week of intensive training with Foursquare Missions International (FMI). This is the missions’ organization we have chosen to help us fulfill our calling. Our current status with them is that of ‘applicant’, as we still have some requirements to fulfill before moving forward in this process. We are currently planning a scouting trip for March 2016 for Jennifer and me to travel to Sweden. It is during that time we will be asking the Lord to once again confirm the calling we believe He has laid on our hearts. Once again, we will be looking for Him to show off in a mighty way, answering questions and showing us new opportunities to serve Him.
